1. Introduction

At AlarmBot, your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web dashboard and browser extension.

Our browser extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store , which enforces strict review policies. Extensions must comply with Google's privacy, security, and performance standards — any violation results in rejection or removal. This means our extension has passed rigorous checks to ensure it handles your data responsibly.

We are committed to transparency and believe you should know exactly what data we collect and why. Our service is designed with a local-first architecture — the browser extension processes page monitoring on your device, and we only store the data needed to run and improve the service, such as keeping your trackers in sync across devices.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address: Used for authentication, account recovery, and important notifications
  • Name (optional): Used to personalize your experience
  • Password: Securely hashed and stored for authentication

2.2 Tracking Configuration Data

When you create trackers, we store:

  • URLs of pages you choose to monitor
  • CSS selectors of elements you select
  • Your custom names and notes for tracked items
  • Check interval preferences
  • List organization data

2.3 Change History

We store detected changes including:

  • Previous and new values of tracked elements
  • Timestamps of when changes were detected
  • Change history per tracked item — up to 90 days on Free, 365 days on Pro

2.4 What We Do NOT Collect

We do NOT collect:

  • Your browsing history
  • Content of web pages you visit (processed locally only)
  • Personal information from monitored pages
  • Cookies or tracking data from third-party websites

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the AlarmBot service
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Sync your tracking configurations across devices
  • Send you notifications about detected changes
  • Provide customer support when you request it
  • Send important service announcements and updates
  • Improve and optimize our service based on usage patterns

4. Browser Extension Privacy

Our browser extension is designed with a local-first architecture:

  • Local Processing: All web page monitoring happens entirely on your device. The extension visits pages in background tabs and checks for changes locally.
  • No Full Page Content: The full HTML content of pages is never sent to our servers. Only the specific element values you choose to track are synced for cross-device access and change history.
  • Local Storage: Your authentication token, tracked items, and settings are stored securely in your browser's local storage.
  • Minimal Sync: Your tracker configurations (URLs, selectors, names) and tracked element values are synced to our servers — but never the full HTML content of monitored pages.
  • Sync Frequency: The extension syncs with our servers approximately every 30 minutes to keep configurations up to date across devices.

This architecture ensures your browsing history and private page content stay on your device, while only the specific values you track are synced for cross-device access.

5. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL
  • Database Security: Our database is secured with industry-standard practices
  • Password Hashing: Passwords are hashed using secure algorithms before storage
  • Access Control: We limit access to personal data to authorized personnel only
  • Regular Backups: Data is backed up regularly to prevent loss

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Authentication: We use secure authentication solutions for account handling
  • Hosting: Our service is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure
  • Extension Store: The browser extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store, which has its own privacy policies
  • Analytics: We use privacy-focused product analytics to understand how the service is used and improve it

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking tools.
